Oh Zooey & Joseph...

Well I wasn't planning on posting today but I came across the most adorable video and just had to share.  There is no denying it, I have a serious girl crush on Zooey Deschanel.  She is so beautiful, funny (please tell me you're watching New Girl...it's hilarious) and she has such an amazing voice.  It's so old school and just makes me smile, She & Him (her band) is one of my favorites!  Add Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the mix and you just get total cuteness.  Enjoy and what are you doing New Years, New Years Eve?

Fire Me UP!

one
Evening friends!  Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 10 days since my last post.  Thanks to my Bara, who happily notified me that an updated post is long overdue.  As you can tell, I took an extend little holiday hiatus and forgot to mention it!  Have no fear, I'm back and better than ever, or at least I keep telling myself that.
So tonight, without further ado....I give you some fireplace inspiration.  Oh man do I love me a good fireplace.  In fact, I spent a good amount of time toasting in front of my mum's fireplace over Christmas and it was heavenly.  To me, there isn't anything much better than a nice fire on a cold night. Fireplaces are so stylish, cozy, romantic, ambient and really just overall awesome.  Enjoy some of my favorite photos of super stylish fireplaces.  How awesome is the abstract sculpture assembled above the fireplace in that top photo?  If you had high ceilings, this would be a great DIY project!

Styling is key to making your home more personal.  Here are some super stylish faux fireplaces!

Maybe super styled fireplaces aren't your cup of tea.  Here are some beautiful au naturel options that might suit your style!

These beauties need no styling, they are each show stoppers on their own.  I've been lusting after the brass plated Piet for quite some time now.

Last but certainly not least, let's say you live in a little place, like myself.  You shouldn't have to suffer from style.  Why not take matters into your own hands and get a little creative.  If you have a wall that is begging for attention, here is a little DIY project for you!

Well friends, I hope you're all finding a way to stay warm and if you can, go snuggle up by a cozy fire!

Just Breathe

Well friends, it's been a LOOOOONG day and I am one tuckered girl.  I came across this print on Etsy and I keep telling myself I need to buy it and put it on my front door so I can see it every day before I leave.  Sometimes it's nice to be reminded that sometimes all you need is to just take a nice big deep breath.  I'm so thankful tonight for little reminders and for special people in my life that will sit with me, take a second and just breathe!

Pa Pa Pa Pillows!

from left to right: one / two / three / four / five / six / seven / eight / nine
Oh my...can I just go ahead and publicly admit that I have a pillow graveyard, alright, it's out there.  It's sad actually.  The truth is, I just really love me some pillows and when I see a super cute one I have a hard time saying no.  It's really this whole inner struggle.  I'm like "Meghan, have you seen your graveyard lately, it's gotten pretty large, but this pillow is so cute and it will look amazing on that Barcelona chair or on the couch, but wait, you already have pillows there, whatever, this will be better..." and now you see why I have a graveyard!  I would show you picture but I'm embarrassed...oh well, I've already admitted I have an in-house graveyard so I might as well go ahead and show you a not so fab iPhone picture anyway.  So where am I going with all of this crazy talk...I'll tell you, there are SO many amazing pillows out there and tonight I'm sharing just a few of my favorites.  I hope you'll enjoy and maybe you'll join my club of pillow addicts.

Beautiful Bookshelves

one / two / three / four
I don't know about y'all but I'm a huge lover of books, especially a good design book because we all know I'm a sucker for anything design related.  I love how books are not only a good source of inspiration, information and entertainment but are now seen as pieces of art.  There are so many different ways you can style books, whether it be in a bookshelf, on the floor, table, etc. to make it a jaw dropping statement in your home.  You can color coordinate, stack them in different heights to almost look like a little mountain top, lay them completely horizontal, the list goes on and on and the options are endless.  I also really enjoy making little vignettes, you can add some of your favorite trinkets, vases, pictures, etc. to make it more personal.  Books can also be really inexpensive!  I just recently assisted a designer in putting a book room together and we bought most of the books from our local McCay's Book Store.  Check your local book stores because a lot of times they have older books with beautiful covers for only a few dollars!
Today I wanted to share a few of my favorites with y'all, I have actually experimented with this myself numerous times, I'm personally a huge fan of color blocking at different heights.  I have one big colorful mountain of books here at my house and whenever I can talk Jamie into taking pictures of our little box, I'll be sure to share.  Enjoy and go rearrange some of your books! :)

Dark Bathing Beauty

 image via apartment therapy
Lately I've been really drawn to dark rooms, I'm talking black, grey, navy, the darker the better.  I also can't seem to get a the thought of a nice long soak out of my mind.  There is something special about an occasional hot, bubbly, relaxing bath.  With that being said, tonight I bring you a little of both worlds, beautiful dark and patterned bathrooms.  In my mind, you just can't go wrong with a playful pattern!  Enjoy, I think it's about time for me to stop thinking and just do!  Relaxing bath, here I come!

Cake Vintage

Well good evening!  So tonight I'm coming to y'all with fun news...I started my new job today!  Yes, Yes, I Thank You, I Thank You.  Since graduating from college, I've worked in the real estate industry.  It was fun at times and was overall really good to me but truth is, it was never really my passion.  However now and a few years later, I'm so excited to finally announce that I'm in an industry that I absolutely love!  Friends, yours truly is now working for Cake Vintage!  I've been a huge fan of Cake since Jamie introduced me to them (he does most of the photography work and is long friends of the owners).  I'm a huge lover of vintage items and who doesn't like paper?  With today being my first day, I had the opportunity to spend time hanging out with the fabulous paper packing girls.  These girls are no joke, they carry around 50lb. boxes like they are feathers where as I had to grunt, strain and praise a few little "oh help me Jesus" just to pick one of them up!  They were so much fun and made my first day so welcoming and above all, fun!  So with all of that being said, tonight I'm featuring Cake's paper products.  If you're planning a party, need some dressing up for your table or maybe you have a friend that loves to cook...then look no further!  I've used their products for the past two Thanksgivings to decorate the table and received tons of compliments, family and friends loved it!  In keeping with theme of the last few posts, if you're in need of some last minute Christmas ideas, then you're in luck.  Without further ado, I give you a small portion of Cake Vintage.

Oh and one last super cool thing about Cake Vintage.  All of their products are locally made.  How many companies can say that?

Design*Sponge Book Signing @ West Elm

Hello my friends. Today I had a friend text me and say..."did you know you're on the West Elm website?" haha! It still makes me laugh. A month or so ago, my beau Jamie and I went to West Elm to get my Design*Sponge book signed by the fabulous and super cute Grace Bonney. It was so much fun and I felt like a stalker nerd because I noticed that several of my favorite local bloggers were at the event. Among one of those was Chelsea Petaja of Oh My Deer Handmade. She actually created the awesome backdrop for the smile booth, you need to check out her blog, it's so dreamy and I love it. So...back to the smile booth, for any of you who know me, I usually won't pass up a camera, especially one with an awesome backdrop so Jamie and I went over and acted our silly selves. There had to be at least 100 or more people at the event who had their photos taken as well. We all knew they would be up on facebook, which you can see here and here but little did I know that me and my man would be up on West Elm's new blog Front&Main. Jamie seems to think they picked us because he came up with the idea of leaning into the camera...haha...for whatever reason, we're thrilled and now you can barely squeeze both of our heads through the door because you know, we're local celebrities now! Haha! So in honor of West Elm featuring us on their blog, I thought I would come up with a few of my favorite gift ideas from West Elm for the holidays, Christmas style! Enjoy...I'm off to bask in my internet famed glory!

One of my favorite things and something I absolutely cannot live without is ART!  One of the places I always turn to while looking for a special piece is Etsy!  Words can't even express how much I love Etsy and especially Etsy Artists!  I can spend countless hours searching for new finds and today I'm sharing just a few of my favorite artists with you.  If you're still in search of a gift this year for Christmas then look no further!  I bet you know someone just like me who needs a little wall love and any of these beautiful pieces would put a smile on your loved one's face!

green with envy

1-bedroom
Lately I've noticed Emerald/Kelly Green all over the place and I must admit, I love it!  I've seriously considered painting my bedroom with one of these hues of green.  There is something romantic about it and I've been told blondes look good in green!  I must admit, I'm green with envy!

well hello there. my name is meghan. nice to meet you and welcome!

So let's not kid ourselves, this isn't my first attempt at keeping up a blog but I've now realized I went about it all wrong...

A little background...I first ventured out into this little blog world when I moved across the country from Vegas to Nashville, TN.  I didn't know a soul and needless to say, staring at the tv plus my dog and kitten every night got a little old, well just staring at the TV got old, I could stare at my perfect little furry children all day.  Oh and don't you worry your pretty little head off, you'll get the chance to stare at them too!  I would never let you miss the cuteness that encompasses them daily, they'll for sure be frequent guests.  Back to the blog, so I used it more as a daily what am I doing but really, I wasn't doing a dang thing so the ol' blog got a major shaft!  The truth is, my passion is design.  I could spend countless hours staring at the computer screen pinning (I love me some Pinterest), bookmarking, saving, tagging, etc. design inspirations.  On top of that, I would also jealously sit and think to myself, Meghan, why aren't you blogging, it's so hot right now.

So here we are folks, what you'll find here is hopefully daily inspirations of rooms I love, products I want, people that I think are super cool and every once in awhile, a little peek at what's going on in my tiny little condo.

With all that being said, feel free to share with everybody and their mama!

Above are a couple of photos of a little table setting my sister and I put together for Thanksgiving, it's our new tradition and I was pleased with how it turned out.
