Weekend Round Up

Hello friends, I'm alive!  So I ended up taking a little longer than expected break from the blog.  Americasmart was awesome and it seems like such a whirlwind.  We had such great success and it was a ton of fun but I've been trying to recover ever since!  This weekend we celebrated Jamie's 38th birthday by drinking fancy cocktails at The Patterson House and followed it up with a delicious dinner at Kayne Prime.  So today I've been a lazy bum and I've spent my free time sleeping a ton and catching up with the web.  I love when my favorite bloggers share little things they've seen across the internet so I thought tonight, I'd do the same.  Here are some things that have caught my eye this weekend, enjoy!

1. How amazing is the star-burst above, that floor makes me smile and the rest of his place isn't too shabby either.

2. Jason Wu at Target!  I am so smitten with all of these outfits and am especially loving that cat tote!  I just might have to set my alarm to get first pick on these beauties.

3. Speaking of outfits, how cute does Jen look?  Stripes and florals just work so well together, I'm on the hunt for a black and white striped shirt!

4. I don't have kids, only furry ones but how cute is this b-day party?  Melissa is just about as fab as you can get.

5. I cut out one of her illustrations from a magazine forever ago and have been in love since, I could stare at Caitlin's dreamy illustrations for days.

6. West Elm bedding and bath sale!  I just can't seem to pull the trigger on new bedding but boy are there some good contenders!  Hurry, the sale ends tomorrow!

7. Houzz rounded up 20 must have design books, I have several of them on my radar!

8. Heather just released a new issue of Gatherings Magazine, the white issue.  It's so dreamy and the issues just keep getting better and better!  Yay Heather!

9. Oh man, my mouth is watering for these...

10. I've been really drawn to quotes, this post from Holly makes me smile.

Yeah Emily!!

I can barely contain my excitement, I'm not even kidding.  Friends, this will be my last post until next Wednesday because I am heading to Americasmart tomorrow, that's right, market!  It's my first time and I'm so pumped!  Now let's add some serious icing onto the already sinfully delicious cake, I get to see interior designer Emily Henderson!  I won't even deny it, I have a serious and I do mean serious girl crush on her.  She won HGTV DesignStar and has her own show called Secrets from a Stylist and it's my favorite, I still can't bring myself to delete any of the episodes, the DVR is full!  She is also a fellow blogger which you know I follow religiously.  I love her style, period, she has yet to design a room that I didn't swoon over.  She is so funny, always gives great styling advice, never takes herself too seriously and well she's just down right fabulous.  I don't even care that I sound like a crazy stalker right now.  I hope she stops by our booth, you know I'll be jumping up and down inside but of course I'll act as cool as a cucumber on the outside because that's how I roll.  Hey, if you're in the big ATL (yeah, I too can't believe I just said that) come to Americasmart and see me and the Cake Vintage/Knobstoppers gang.  We will be in Building 2, Floor 3, Booth 315 and have some super cool new stuff, it will definitely make you drool but don't worry, I'll be there with a tissue.  Otherwise, peace out little blog, see y'all in a week!
Last but definitely not least, this post certainly wouldn't be complete without me saying how amazing my boss is.  Thank you so much for letting me come down early so I can see my girl.  You seriously are the best and you've made me one happy lady!
Here are just a few of my favorite rooms Emily has styled and designed...enjoy!

Feeling Blue and it Feels Good!

One of my top goals to tackle this year is to redecorate my bedroom.  For the longest time I had the ever so beautiful Chinoiserie Duvet Set by Dwell Studio.  I loved it, I still love it but after 5 years, it's run it's course.  Mainly because there is a hole the size of Texas that I get my foot stuck in every time I'm sleeping!  I can't even tell you how lovely it is to get your foot tangled in your bedding in the middle of the night while you're trying to sleep like a baby, NOT!  It's anything but peaceful!  Oh the joys of having furry babies, thank you for putting huge holes in my bedding, good thing you're cute.  So the other day I was flipping through the new West Elm catalog and came across the most amazing blue wall which is above and on a side note, how perfect is that settee, I want it, I want it bad.  Now I'm obsessed with this blue hue!  I keep talking about how I've wanted to paint the bedroom a dark color since we moved in, there is just something so dreamy and romantic to me about a dark bedroom but...I'm scared.  ONLY and I do mean ONLY because we have one window in the bedroom and I don't want it to look like we live in a cave, but after seeing these beautiful dark bedrooms I'm ready to take the leap.  Blue is so hot right now and living in a dark cave is cool.  Time to get inspired...and if I chicken out, there is always beautiful blue bedding, like this looker below.  This bedroom makes me jealous, it's ridiculous and of course no bedroom is complete without a swinging side table and some chunky knits!

DIY-A Better Friend

One of my goals this year is to be a better friend.  It's so hard to keep up with everyone, sure there is facebook but it can be impersonal.  I want to express to my friends how much they truly mean to me, even if I don't talk to them every day or see them but once a year if I'm lucky, they really do mean the world to me.  I love getting random cards and special surprises, it just makes my day!  So tonight, I'm going to share with you some fun little DIY projects I've found from various favorite blogs that would be easy to make and show that special person of yours how much you care!  Watch out friends, you just might have some goodies coming your way!

Well Color Me Happy...

Oh man do I love me some color.  I've never been afraid of it like a lot of people I know and I have always happily embraced it with loving arms.  Every year for Christmas, Jamie's mom always buys him a calendar.  This year he received "Uncle John's Bathroom Reader"...hilarious!  You're thinking, Meghan, where are you going with this...well there are all kinds of fun little facts in there and I happened to stumble upon this..."The number of people who say they dream in color has risen by 53% since the 1940's."  I had to double take, I've always dreamed in color!  Who dreams in black and white?  I'm trying to talk subconscious into dreaming in black and white tonight so I'll feel like I'm part of The Artist cast dancing away.  I still haven't seen the movie and I want to so badly...it seems so dreamy!  Tonight I thought I would share with you a few of my own personal photos of this lovely little house I lived in on Greenwood.  I had such a love affair with that house and miss it all the time.  It was full of color and always made me smile!

Goodnight y'all and here's to always dreaming in color!

10 Goals for the New Year...

I've long since given up on making resolutions, they're for the birds.  This year I'm going to focus on tackling some goals...hey, in my mind it's different.  I think it will be fun to reflect back on this post to see what I've accomplished.  Keeping my fingers, toes, eyes, legs and whatever else you can keep crossed, crossed.  Here we go...

1. Post on the ol' blog at least once a day.  Blogging is fun and cool!
2. Start and finish designing the master bedroom.
3. DIY more and by more, I'd like to do at least 12 projects this year.  Starting small people.
4. Make more handmade cards and send snail mail to friends.  To me, there is nothing better than getting a sweet card unexpectedly from a friend or loved one.  Instead of waiting around for said cards, I'm just going to make some myself.
5. Paint the bathroom.
6. Buy a bicycle and start biking to work.  It would make me feel so special.
7. Read more...I kind of want to nerd up and join a book club.
8. Start my portfolio and hopefully decorate for someone this year, that would be amazing.
9. Take Sadie on more walks, my brother-in-law said she was fat over Christmas and I thought I was going to have to judo chop him, nobody puts Sadie in a corner!
10. Learn how to needlepoint.

Seems pretty reasonable huh?  Lord knows I have many more goals I need to accomplish but slow and steady wins the race!
